6 Inspirational Videos For Teachers

SEN and Inclusion teaching

These are Inspirational talks on teaching, education and autism I enjoyed watching and have in some way affected my approach to teaching and learning. I do necessarily think that I agree with 100% but these inspired me to look at my pedagogical approach, made some sense, were engaging and got me thinking. They make great professional development and are short enough to show in a meeting. Please add any of your suggestions for inspiring educational videos in the comments.

Inspirational Videos about Education for Teachers

Dr. Michael Hannon: New Reflections on a Timeless Role: Fathering Children with Special Needs

Do not be put off by the aspect ratio, and if you just watch one inspirational video on special education make it this one. (6 minutes) “Who gets your best?”

Dave Eggers: My wish: Once Upon a School

Dave Eggers TED talks about setting up his own education provision. Brings it back to the learners all the time which is good. I’m not sure how many practical ideas you can take away but food for thought.

Engaging Kids Today – It’s about Pedagogy, not just Technology by Dan Haesler

I enjoy Dan’s straight to point style and he talks a lot of sense, quite upset I missed him at Bett.

This is a longer presentation that goes into more depth and should give you more inspiration and ideas for your teaching approach.

Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion

Rita Pierson Quote. “Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like”

The voice of experience  Such a passionate talk, I don’t agree with every sentence but you can’t argue with  “It’s the connections. It’s the Relationships” – Repeat to fade.

Orson Scott Card: Creative education: How to keep the spark alive in children and adults

Mainly including for the fact he uses note cards. Also, now I’m going to be controversial here Don’t give kids homework! Yes quite right! Watch the TED talk here

Jane Evans: Taming And Tending Your Meerkat Brain

Jane is a great speaker and one of only a few Ted talks that I’ve found – please point me in the right direction – that discusses issues that really affect student’s with SEN
