SEN Teacher Adapting The Tough Tray

collaboroo tuff tray post

Custom Tough Tray Divider

Tough trays are a brilliant and invaluable addition to any classroom. This was an idea I had when I first bought a tuff tray but was brought to life by our workshop tutor so I can’t claim all the credit. I work in an SLD SEN key stage 4 class. My students love practical hands-on activities, some like sensory messy play and some like more structured activities. This was a way to theme an activity station to meet all needs and keep bits separate whilst the students still worked together. We used it for transport (sea) topic tuff tray activities – more free printable resources available here.

Possible Further Adaptations to the Tough Tray

When it comes to the versatile tough tray, the possibilities for adaptation are truly endless. Its flexibility allows for a multitude of creative applications that cater to various needs and interests. Whether you’re engaging in sensory play, exploring scientific experiments, or organising artistic endeavours, the tough tray provides a sturdy and reliable foundation for your activities.

Remember one key guideline: be cautious not to puncture or create openings in the bottom of the tray. By adhering to this precaution, you can fully unleash your imagination while ensuring the tray’s functionality and durability remain intact. So go ahead and embrace the limitless potential of the tough tray, embracing its adaptability while keeping it hole-free for countless enjoyable experiences.

I Would love to see any pictures of how you have extended use of your tuff tray.
